Instant Play 2500 Instruction Manual
Instant Play 2500 is a browser-based instant replay sound player with 50 banks of 50 sound slots (2,500 sounds). Trigger clips, crossfade between them, loop them, trim them, and save your layouts as sessions.
1. Quick Start
- Click UPLOAD SOUND (inside the black and green display).
- Choose a Bank and Slot, type a Sound Name, pick an audio file, then click SAVE SOUND.
- Click the numbered button for that slot. Your sound plays.
- Click STOP to stop the last sound, or STOP ALL to stop everything.
2. Free vs. Premium
Free
- Bank 01, slots 01-10
- STOP and STOP ALL
- Upload Sound, left/right-click actions, master volume, keyboard keys
- Anything locked appears greyed out. Clicking it shows "UPGRADE TO UNLOCK" on the display.
Premium (log in, then click UPGRADE)
- All 50 banks and all 50 slots
- Transport controls: PAUSE, PLAY, REWIND, FAST-FORWARD, LOOP
- EDIT CLIP and the Sound Editor
- The Sound Library
3. The Display
The green display shows:
- The current bank (top left) and a running timer (top right)
- The name of the current sound and its status (PLAYING, PAUSED, STOPPED, LOADING, ERROR, etc.)
- Three tabs along the bottom: UPLOAD SOUND, SOUND EDITOR, SOUND LIBRARY. Each opens a panel inside the display. Close it with the X button.
- The MASTER fader and its level scale beside the display
Use the fullscreen button in the bottom-right corner to enter or leave fullscreen mode. Leaving fullscreen does not stop playback.
4. Playing Sounds
Sound buttons
Each of the 50 buttons is one slot in the current bank. A button shows its slot number, the sound name (or EMPTY), and its state. The small letter beneath each button is its keyboard shortcut. Long sound names scroll within the button, while the sound state stays fixed at the bottom.
Left-click and right-click actions
Use the LEFT-CLICK and RIGHT-CLICK drop-downs to choose what each mouse button does:
- PLAY starts the sound. Other sounds keep playing.
- CROSSFADE fades out whatever is playing while fading the new sound in (about half a second).
Defaults: left-click = PLAY, right-click = CROSSFADE. Your choice is remembered.
Master volume
The MASTER fader controls overall output level.
STOP / STOP ALL
STOP stops the most recently started sound. STOP ALL stops everything.
5. Keyboard Shortcuts
The 50 slots map to the keyboard, 10 per row:
| Slots | Keys |
|---|---|
| 01-10 | 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 |
| 11-20 | Q W E R T Y U I O P |
| 21-30 | A S D F G H J K L ; |
| 31-40 | Z X C V B N M , . / |
| 41-50 | Shift + 1 to 0 (! @ # $ % ^ & * ( )) |
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Space | Stop the last sound |
| Esc | Stop all sounds (outside fullscreen) |
| Shift + Space | Stop all sounds (while fullscreen) |
While fullscreen is active, plain Esc exits fullscreen and does not stop sounds. Use Shift + Space or the on-screen STOP ALL button to stop all sounds without leaving fullscreen.
Shortcuts use your Left-Click action and follow whichever mode is active (Bank Select, Edit, Arrange, etc.). They are ignored while you are typing in a text box or drop-down. Holding a key will not retrigger a sound.
6. Transport Controls (Premium)
Transport controls act on the most recently played clip (the display shows "TARGET: LAST").
- PAUSE pauses the clip. Press again to resume.
- PLAY resumes a paused clip.
- REWIND pauses the clip and moves back 4 seconds per press.
- FAST-FORWARD pauses the clip and moves ahead 4 seconds per press. After rewinding or fast-forwarding, press PLAY to resume from the new position.
- LOOP toggles looping. It applies to clips already playing and to every clip you start afterward. Looping repeats within the clip's Start and Stop points (see Sound Editor).
Target Select
Click TARGET SELECT, then click slot buttons to mark them as targets (they get a gold border). Click TARGET SELECT again to exit and clear the selection.
7. Uploading Sounds
Click the UPLOAD SOUND tab:
- Choose a Bank and a Slot.
- Type a Sound Name.
- Choose an audio file (MP3, WAV, OGG, and other formats your browser supports).
- Click SAVE SOUND.
Uploading to a slot that already has a sound replaces that assignment. Free accounts can only choose Bank 01, slots 01-10.
Important: Sounds are stored in your own browser (IndexedDB), not on a server. Sounds you upload while logged out last only until you refresh or close the page. Log in to keep your library and sessions between visits. They stay on the device and browser where you saved them.
8. Sound Editor (Premium)
Trim a clip and set its loop boundaries. To open it:
- Click EDIT CLIP. The button reads EDIT ON.
- Click the sound button you want to edit. (No audio plays while Edit is on.)
- Or click the SOUND EDITOR tab to reopen your last edited sound.
In the editor:
- Sound Name: rename the clip.
- Waveform: shows the audio with your Start and Stop points marked in blue.
- Start Point / Stop Point sliders: playback begins at Start and ends at Stop. With LOOP on, the clip repeats between these two points.
- SAVE CHANGES keeps your edits. CANCEL closes without saving.
- The small x at the top collapses the editor so you can reopen it from the tab without losing your place.
Click EDIT ON again to leave Edit Mode.
9. Sound Library (Premium)
The library holds all your sounds, independent of any bank or slot. Slots simply point at library sounds, so the same sound can appear in several banks.
Adding sounds
Open the SOUND LIBRARY tab, choose one or more audio files, and click ADD TO LIBRARY.
Using library sounds
Click a sound in the list to open its menu:
- ASSIGN: put the sound in an empty slot of the current bank, then click the destination slot.
- MOVE: (if already in this bank) move it to a different slot.
- EDIT: open it in the Sound Editor.
- DELETE: permanently remove it from the library and from every bank it is assigned to.
You can also drag a sound from the list and drop it onto a slot button. Assigning to an occupied slot is refused ("SLOT OCCUPIED"). Moving a sound onto an occupied slot swaps the two.
10. Banks and Arranging Slots
Bank Select
Click BANK SELECT, then click a slot button 01-50 to jump to that bank. The bank number appears at the top left of the display. The app remembers your last bank.
Arrange Slots
Click ARRANGE SLOTS, then click a filled slot:
- MOVE: click a destination slot. Moving onto an occupied slot swaps the two sounds.
- REMOVE: clears the slot (the sound stays in your library).
Click EXIT ARRANGE when finished. Bank Select, Arrange Slots, and Target Select are mutually exclusive: turning one on turns the others off.
11. Sessions (Login Required)
A session is a saved snapshot of which sound sits in which slot of every bank. Session controls remain visible at the bottom of the page and are disabled until you log in:
- SAVE SESSION: enter a name. Saving with an existing name overwrites it.
- LOAD SESSION: pick a session from the drop-down, then click LOAD.
The last session you saved or loaded is reloaded automatically when you log in.
12. Accounts and Upgrading
- Click LOG IN (top right). To create an account, click "Sign Up" in the window, enter your email and a password, and confirm via the email you receive.
- When logged in, the button shows your email address. Click it to log out.
- Click UPGRADE to unlock Premium through secure checkout. Return to the app afterward and your features unlock automatically.
13. Tips and Troubleshooting
- No sound? Click any button first. Browsers block audio until you interact with the page. Also check the MASTER fader and your device volume.
- A button is greyed out? It is a Premium slot or bank. Upgrade to unlock it.
- Sounds missing after a refresh? You were probably logged out when you uploaded them. Log in first, then upload.
- Sounds missing on another computer? Sounds are stored per browser and per device.
- Large files may take a moment to decode the first time they play (the display shows LOADING).
